Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group has announced that the company will gift its upcoming XUV700 to Neeraj Chopra – ace javelin thrower as an honor. Neeraj Chopra is the second Indian to get a gold medal participating as an individual. Neeraj has made the country proud by winning the first-ever gold medal in athletics at the Olympics. He is only 23 years old and has won the hearts of billions of people in a country that was not aware of this sport before this feat.
Mahindra Promised Neeraj Chopra XUV700
A Twitter user tweeted and tagged Anand Mahindra asking him to gift the upcoming XUV700 to Neeraj Chopra. He completely agreed with the idea and replied with “Yes indeed, it will be my privilege and honor to gift our Golden Athlete an XUV700.”
In the tweet, he tagged Veejay Nakra, Mahindra CEO Automotive Division, and Rajesh Jejurikar, Mahindra Executive Director. He asked them to keep one car ready for him. It’s a lovely gesture from the side of Anand Mahindra.
Many Twitter users started to give suggestions in reply to Anand Mahindra’s tweet regarding the company should launch a special edition of XUV700 in Neeraj Chopra’s honor.
Designer Pratap Bose, at Mahindra who was there with Tata Motors earlier, gave a hint regarding this. In response to some Twitter users, he tweeted, “We have some ideas cooking up at the @MahindraRise Design studios! Will share more soon!”
What do we know about XUV700 so far?
The initial focus of the new XUV700 will be to enhance the gadgets and technology used in the car. It will be a replacement for the XUV500 model. The segment-first features are being teased through online platforms by the company. Some of the teased features are a panoramic sunroof, auto booster headlamps, multiple driving modes, AdrenoX with Alexa Auto, personalized safety alerts, and a few more. All the features will be revealed by the company at the launch only.
The new XUV700 will be more spacious and luxurious than the XUV500. The size of the upcoming model will also be more. It has been classified as a genuine three-row SUV just like the XUV500.
It will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol engine will produce 200hp with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. On the other hand, the diesel engine will produce 185hp with the 2.2-liter engine.
Talking about the gearbox, it will come in both automatic and manual variants. The option will be either a 6-speed Aisin-derived torque-converter automatic or a 6-speed manual gearbox.
