Skoda Kushaq, the upcoming Creta rival from Czech carmaker, was supposed to be launched by now. But amidst the pandemic and lockdown, the company is more focused on the well being of its employees. So the launch has been delayed. Now, Zac Hollis has stated that all the trims and specifications will be announced at the end of this month and we can expect the bookings to start from June.

What can we expect from Skoda Kushaq in terms of performance?

There will be 2 engine options. A 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI engine capable of producing 115ps of power and 175Nm of torque. There will be another petrol engine, a 1.5-litre TSI engine oozing out 150ps of power and a peak torque of 250Nm. Both the engines will have a 6-speed manual transmission option as standard. With the 1.0-litre TSI, you’ll get automatic transmission options. The bigger 1.5-litre TSI will get a 7-speed DSG option.

How does Hyundai Creta rival look?

If you remember the Skoda Vision IN from the Auto Expo 2020, you’ll find that Kushaq is the production version of the concept. It has the unique large Skoda grille, dual-headlight setup, LED DRLs and a well-sculpted bonnet with faux air intake under the fog lamps. With the top-spec, you’ll get roof rails and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It truly looks like a king!

What features can you expect from Skoda Kushaq?

On the comfort and convenience end, you’ll be getting a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six-speaker setup, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in-car WiFi, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox, electric sunroof and so on.

Skoda has made sure to add enough safety features to the SUV. It will have:

  • 6 airbags
  • A rear parking camera
  • ISOFIX child seat mounts
  • Multi-collision braking system
  • Auto headlamps and wipers
  • ESC standard across all variants
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system (Optional)
  • Hill Hold Control (HSC) (Optional)
  • Disc brakes at the front, drum at the rear (Across all variants)

Price and Rivals

Skoda is yet to reveal the prices but we can expect them to be around ₹10 lakhs. It will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks and Tata Harrier.
