The new Continental GT Cup is announced for India by Royal Enfield. This racing series aims to make track racing available for newbies to experienced racers. The registration for this new Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup started on September 22 and we’ll be discussing here everything about it. What is the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup?

2021 JK National Racing Championship will mark the debut of the new Continental GT Cup. The race will feature the Continental GT 650 racing variant.

 Continental GT-R650 features race-prepped features and some modifications to make it suitable for racers. The modifications are as follows:

  • Stiffer Race-Tuned Suspension
  • Bespoke Stainless Steel Exhaust
  • Rear-set Foot Pegs
  • Lowered Race Clip-on Handlebars
  • JK Race Tyres

The motorcycle carries 12% more power with the new suspension. The company has also worked on improving the aerodynamic performance of the motorcycle by adding giving rear-set footpegs. The bike is also about 24kg lighter and has only important parts required for racing. 

When will the Royal Enfield GT Cup take place?

There will be four rounds in the series. Each of those rounds will conduct two races each. The Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore will feature the Continental GT Cup for rounds 1, 2, and 3 on October 21-24, November 18-21, and December 2-5. The Buddh International Circuit will feature the final round on January 13-16, 2022. 

But before the rounds begin, the interested participants will have to go through extensive selection criteria. The registrations are open from September 22-September 30th until 5 PM. The Rider Selection Programme will consist of 100 eligible riders out of all the registrations. It will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore on October 18 and 19. The top 18 fastest riders among all will be shortlisted for the Continental GT Cup championship.

Eligibility for Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup

The participants should be above 18 years of age as of January 1st, 2021. You will require the following documents in order to participate: 

  • FMSCI Accredited Race Participation Certificate/Proof
  • FMSCI 2W Race License 
  • Track School Participation Certificate/Proof
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (Riders should have two vaccination doses administered before the Riders Selection Programme) 
  • Track Day Participation Certificate/Proof/Pay and Practice Receipt
  • A Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner

Helmet, boots, and gloves are also necessary for the selected riders to bring by themselves to Rider Selection Programme. They all should be certified to use on the track. 

What are the fees for RE Continental GT Cup?

There’s no fee charged on online registration. So, anyone can register themselves online without paying anything. The registered participants who receive the Rider Selection Programme invitation will be paying ₹2,500 + 18% GST for online slot booking.

People who will get selected at the Rider Selection Programme will have to pay a sum of ₹20,000 + 18% GST for rider entry fees. This fee will include all four rounds. The last date to pay this fee is October 20 by 5 PM.
