The much-awaited Tata Tiago CNG is here, or as Tata likes to call it, Tata Tiago iCNG. And that’s not all. We also get CNG for the sedan counterpart, the Tigor. To catch up with the steep rise in demand for CNG vehicles, Tata has entered the CNG market. Tata Tiago and Tigor iCNG will ensure that customers don’t have to compromise on features, safety, and luxury. And all that at an impressive introductory price of Rs. 6,09,000 for Tata Tiago CNG and Rs. 7,69,900 for Tata Tigor CNG.
Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG: Engine Specifications
With the 1.2-litre Revotron engine, Tiago CNG gets the pest in class power output of 73ps. This is a reduction of 13ps when compared to the petrol variant, but even then, both Tiago and Tigor are the most powerful cars in their respective segments. You will only get a 5-speed manual transmission option though.
With the advanced technology, this engine can start on CNG, unlike the conventional CNG cars that require petrol to start and shift to CNG later.
Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG | Safety Features
The second pillar of iCNG tech is safety! Tata Motors is known to be the epitome of safety. And Tiago and Tigor are already proven platforms in terms of providing safety for the occupants. The standard safety features include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, and cornering stability control. Apart from that, the Tiago and Tigor CNG use advanced material in CNG kits, come with thermal incident protection, and leak detection feature.
What about the features?
Unlike the other CNG cars in the market that come with CNG in base variants without features, both Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG are being offered with an array of features in 4 variants of Tiago and 2 variants of Tigor.
The XZ+ Tiago CNG will offer features like projector headlamps, signature LED DRLs, a 7″ touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear parking camera, and much more.
As for the Tata Tigor CNG, you will get features like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, dual-tone roof option, signature LED DRLs, a 7″ touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear parking camera, and much more.
You will get a new colour option of Midnight Plum along with the outgoing Arizona Blue, Opal White, Flame Red, and Daytona Grey with the Tata Tiago CNG.
As for the Tata Tigor CNG, you will get an all-new Magnetic Red along with the outgoing Arizona Blue, Opal White, Flame Red, and Daytona Grey.
Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG | Price and Rivals
Tata has been known to price their products aggressively, especially the introductory prices. For Tiago CNG, you will have to spend Rs. 6,09,900 for the base variant. For Tigor CNG, the starting price is Rs. 7,69,900. Tata Tiago CNG will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG, Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG, Hyundai i10 CNG, and Hyundai Santro CNG. As for the Tigor CNG, it will rival the Hyundai Aura CNG.
